Mental Health Enhancement of Deaf Youth

Under Project M.H.E.O.D.Y., Swasthya Sewa Sang Nepal organized a two-day IEC Co-Creation Workshop on 2083/02/19 and 2083/02/20 to develop inclusive and accessible health communication materials with the active participation of Deaf youth, parents of Deaf children, Kathmandu Association of Deaf (KAD), NASLI, Project LOUD, and project team members. The workshop created a meaningful platform for shared learning, lived-experience sharing, and co-designing communication approaches that are relevant, visual, and accessible for Deaf and hard-of-hearing children, youth, families, and communities.
As part of the project’s continued effort to break communication barriers, a 15-day Sign Language Training for parents and caregivers of Deaf children was also initiated in collaboration with KAD and NASLI. The training aims to strengthen parent-child communication, promote inclusion at home and in the community, and support the emotional wellbeing of Deaf children. Every sign learned is a step toward greater connection, confidence, and inclusion, helping build a future where communication knows no barriers and every voice is valued.
