Founder’s Journey

Dr. Prajwal Bhandari

Founder & Executive Director – Health Care Association of Nepal (HCAN)

The Beginning “The Story Behind HCAN.”

For Personal consultation: bhandariprajwal58@gmail.com

HCAN was founded by Dr. Prajwal Bhandari with a vision to reduce health inequalities and address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Nepal.

During his third year of MBBS, he started Swasthya Gyan to make reliable medical and public-health information easier for the public to understand. Recognizing that many communities also lacked access to screening, early diagnosis, referral, and preventive services, he later established HCAN. Today, HCAN implements community-based programmes, research, professional training, health education, and advocacy in COPD, diabetes, hypertension, CKD, obesity, cancer, hearing care, mental health, and other public-health priorities

Dr. Bhandari leads HCAN’s programme development, partnerships, grant management, research, implementation, and policy advocacy with the vision of creating a healthier Nepal with equitable access to quality healthcare.
